Goals and Challenges

Over the past year the Beautification Committee along with the neighbors began in June of 2019 came together to help plan to build A Park/Play Social Space for All Ages to be called the Belmont Commons I.  We decided that the ideal space for our park should be located at 862 - 874 North Preston and 871 and 873 North Budd Streets, Philadelphia PA 19104.

Accomplishments
We worked with Apiary Studios Architect / Landscaper (Hans Hesselein) and Assurum Landscaping Company (Ms. Sarah) after receiving a $10,000 Planning Grant from LISC / ESPN to produce a written Architectural Plan for the proposed park.   This year for the Beautification Committee under the RCO have been a series of meetings, decisions and joy once we completed our initial task.

Building momentum on behalf of the BACA RCO Beautification Committee - Belmont Alliance Civic Association applied for an Implementation Grant from Kaboom and won $80,000.00 towards our Park Plans that will cost Belmont up $1.5 mil to build.  Continuing our fund task we have gained Gifts-n-kind from Temple U and will gain additional Park Elements once full land control is gained from the City of Philadelphia.

Challenges
Accompanies the best situations, and with COVID-19 Pandemic hitting Philadelphia and we have had to wait out fully moving forward so yes this has affected our plans, as well.  Our problem to date is called the waiting game and we have to wait for the City of Philadelphia re-open for business which they are slowly but they are surely getting there.  One must posses the patience of Job.  These obstacles will not be a deterrent to the BACA team as we continue to march forward to reach our goals for success.
