THE 2018 "ED BRADLEY" MURAL CELEBRATION

The dedication of the Mural presented by Artist Ernel Martinez in honor of legendary journalist Ed Bradley.  The celebration was held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Belmont and Wyalusing Avenues in West Philadelphia near where Ed Bradley grew up.  We had an afternoon of celebration and musical performances, with food from Oink and Moo BBQ, Pbon’s Fresh Phood, and Lil Pop Shop.                                  FEATURING:  The Urban Guerilla Orchestra, The Dixie Hummingbirds, Sister Cities Girlchoir, Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble and award-winning journalists: Steve Kroft of CBS’ 60 Minutes, Charlayne Hunter-Gault of NPR and PBS and Ukee Washington of CBS3 Philly, event emcee!

Highly-esteemed journalist Ed Bradley, most notable for his 26 years as a correspondent on CBS News’ 60 Minutes, was a Philly native raised in the same West Philadelphia neighborhood where we’ll gather on May 19. Bradley was the first black television correspondent to cover the White House and the recipient of dozens of prestigious journalism awards. His career took him all over the world, but he remained a proud son of the City of Brotherly Love, and his life continues to influence aspiring journalists today.
